Preparing the patient

These procedures are performed in the patient preparation room.

Before planned surgical intervention is necessary to keep approximately 10-hour hunger strike in order to prevent emesis and aspiration of food residue. Furthermore, three to four hours is not recommended to drink any water.

Before the surgery, we prepare the surgical wound. First, an elctric razor removes hair at the locations where the incision and its surroundings. Followed by intial cleaning and disinfection of the operative field-cut.These procedures are carried out in a room for patient preparation to meet the principles of aseptic surgery. There is also applyed an intravenous cannula and the animal is given general anasthesia.
